PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve maintainability of a shift position sensor in a transmission for a vehicle in which one end part of a shift drum is covered by a shift position change drive means and it is detected by a shift position sensor which gear train of a plurality of gear trains is under an established state. SOLUTION: A detected member 96 connected to one end part of the shift drum 52 to rotate together with the shift drum 52 not to relatively rotate, is extended to an opposite side of the shift drum 52 with rotatably passing through an opening part 99 provided on the shift position change drive means 62. The shift position sensor 102 detecting rotation operation quantity of the detected member 96 is fixed on an outer surface of a cover member 67 covering an outer end part of the detected member 96 and attached to an engine case 11.
