The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for recording a satellite status, which are to separately store corresponding information in the case that a system has problems by using a trace buffer function in an on-orbit, and to use the stored information to the following analysis. The apparatus for recording a satellite status comprises: a processor which operates loaded software; a debug support part which records the operation records by the loaded software in a trace buffer; and a recording part which stores the operation records recorded in the trace buffer in a separate memory area in the case that a change in a satellite status is required.
