PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal overcurrent relay without needing a changeover lever for changing over a manual reset mode to an automatic reset mode and vice versa. SOLUTION: In a reset bar, a cutout part is formed by cutting out a part of a columnar lower end; in the manual reset mode, the reset bar is plunged into a case with a cut-out surface of the cutout part directed in a direction of a cantilever fulcrum of a normally-opened fixed contact cantilevered and supported in the case, and a point separated at a predetermined distance L1 from the cantilever fulcrum of the normally-opened fixed contact is pressed by a part of the lower end without being cut out to flexurally deform the normally-opened fixed contact to execute manual reset; in the automatic reset mode, the reset bar is plunged into the case by a certain amount, the cut-out surface of the cutout part is rotated around an axis to be directed in a direction rotated by a certain amount from the direction of the cantilever fulcrum of the normally-opened fixed contact and locked to the case, and a point separated at a distance smaller than the predetermined distance L1 from the cantilever fulcrum of the normally-opened fixed contact is pressed by the lower end.
