PURPOSE: A method for retrieving information provided from a network in a terminal, is provided to store the information in a terminal for a bidirectional service such as information on demand service using a short message service(SMS), and to display the stored information on a screen according to a user's request, so that retrieving time and traffic in a network can be reduced. CONSTITUTION: When a user requests information, whether the information is for caching type messages is analyzed. If so, information on a node is checked to decide whether cache hit is generated. If the cache hit is generated, whether to request new data is confirmed. If cached data are requested without requesting new data, the caching type messages stored in a cache memory are displayed on a terminal screen. If information refresh is requested to a user when re-retrieving a first message of text and call back type transmitting final information, whether to update the information to the newest data is requested to the user. If the user requests information for messages excluding menu list type, text type and call back type or a cache fault is generated, or the user request new data though the cache hit is generated, new information from the network is displayed on the terminal screen. If information on demand service is ended or timer is not ended, a first step requesting information is returned.
