Said device driver can be loaded into a control unit, can be adjusted in an application-specific manner, and is configured autonomously with the aid of a projection file (P) that is allocated to the field device. The projection file (P) determines the application-specific functionality of the field device by causing modules to be instantiated and interlinked in the field device.
