PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a safe iron allowing a user to achieve excellent finishing without applying stress to fingers or the wrist. SOLUTION: The iron includes a base 2 to be heated by a heater 6; a vaporization chamber 7 formed on the base 2; a water tank 14 for storing water to be fed to the vaporization chamber 7; an electromagnetic pump 20 for feeding water in the water tank 14 to the vaporization chamber 7 to generate steam; a water flow joint 9 for guiding water in the water tank 14 to the vaporization chamber 7; a control part 19 for controlling the heater 6 and the electromagnetic pump 20; a temperature setting button 30 for setting the temperature of the base 2; a steam button 31 for setting the quantity of steam; and a shot button 32 for jetting steam by the manual operation. The control part 19 receives the operation of the shot button 32 and drives/controls the electromagnetic pump 20. Accordingly, the user can have the iron jet an increased quantity of steam with light switch operation, and can achieve the improved finishing without applying stress to the fingers or the wrist.
