摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head maintenance method which enables high-quality printing by preventing defective ejection because of an ink in a thickened state in an ink nozzle of a printing head, and maintaining the ink nozzle in a good state at all times, and to provide a head maintenance mechanism and a recorder. SOLUTION: In the head maintenance method, capping to protect by adhering a head cap to a nozzle formation surface is carried out when suction cleaning of sucking the ink from the ink nozzle while adhering the head cap to the nozzle formation surface is carried out and when printing is stopped. When a power supply is switched on, cap set cleaning judgment of judging whether or not cap set cleaning of forcibly sucking the ink in the thickened state from the ink nozzle is necessary is carried out on the basis of an open time of the nozzle formation surface.
