PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack and pinion type steering device comprising a precompression mechanism of which number of components is suppressed while generation of rattling sound being suppressed.SOLUTION: A rack and pinion type steering device comprising a pinion tooth formed on a steering input shaft, a rack shaft on which a rack tooth engaging with the pinion tooth is formed, and a gear housing which movably guides the rack shaft in an axial direction. In the rack and pinion type device, the gear housing has a pinion side housing for supporting the pinion and a rack side housing for guiding the rack, the pinion side housing and the rack side housing are separated from each other and connected to each other via a spacer which can adjust precompression between the rack tooth and the pinion tooth.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
