PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device that makes it possible for a user to easily recognize the detected state of a focusing target or the behavior of the apparatus, and makes it possible to set focusing target position that reflects the intention of a user. SOLUTION: The image processing device is constituted so that a focusing target position is set, based on a focusing target position detected from an image; the set focusing target position is reported to a user, wherein the notification is varied, according to the change in the detected state of the focusing target; and further, the device includes a restraining means that restrains the focusing target position from changing due to changes in the detected state of the focusing target.
