The cryogenic fuel tank consists of an inner tank (1) containing the cryogenic fuel, an outer tank (3) and a third, pressure sealed layer (5), which is located inside the vacuum insulation layer (4) between the inner (1) and the outer layer (3). In case of a leakage of the inner (1) or outer layer (5) the pressure sealed layer (5) maintains the vacuum insulation layer (4) between the pressure sealed layer (5) and the intact layer. Due to maintaining part of the vacuum insulation layer (4) the boil-off gas, which is blown off increasingly because of the increase in heat radiation, can basically be fully oxidized in the utilization facility of the cryogenic fuel tank. A pipe (6) for the boil-off gas is connected to the pressure sealed layer (5) and also acts as a heat conductor.
