摘要 The present disclosure relates to a communication method and system for converging a 5G communication system for supporting higher data rates beyond a 4G system with a technology for Internet of Things (IoT). A method for establishing a secure communication between a UE and a relay UE is provided. The method includes deriving a ProSe traffic key (PTK) of the relay UE by using a key derivation function (KDF) of at least one of a ProSe group key (PGK) of the UE, a PTK identification (ID) and a ID of the relay UE, and transmitting a security key response message comprising at least the PTK of the relay UE, the PTK ID and PGK ID, to the relay UE. The at least the PTK of relay UE. PTK ID and PGK is used to derive a security key for the D2D group communication between the UE and relay UE.
