<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single core bidirectional optical transmission system, for elongating the distance in a single core and two directions, at low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The an optical signal outputted from a second optical transmitter 7 is made incident into an optical amplifying unit 11, through an optical circulator 6; a single-core bidirectional transmission path 5, an optical circulator 4 and a Blue/Red filter 12. The optical signal outputted from a first optical transmitter 2 is made incident into the optical amplifying unit 11 through a dispersion compensator 14 and the Blue/Red filter 12. The dispersion compensator 14 is inserted, immediately after the first optical transmitter 2, whereby the difference between the input power level of the optical signal from the first optical transmitter 2 into the optical amplifier 11 and the input power level of the optical signal from a second optical transmitter 7 into the optical amplifier 11, is reduced; further, even if the optical amplifier 11 is installed at one end of transmission path, enough gain can be obtained in the signals of both directions, thereby realizing bidirectional batch amplification. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
