<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an optimal peripheral cell search corresponding to the state of a mobile station. <P>SOLUTION: In a channel mapping method according to the present invention, a synchronization channel (SCH) is divided into two SHs which are disposed in the center of the frequency bandwidth of a base station respectively. The mobile station acquires at least one of pieces of mobile station information (CQI, positional information, moving speed, transmission power of the mobile station, path loss, quantity of variation in reception quality) (S1), and transmits the mobile station information to the base station (S2). The base station decides the state of the mobile station from at least the one of pieces of mobile station information (S3), determines packet scheduling for a peripheral cell search optimal for the state of the mobile station (S4), and reports it to the mobile station (S5).
