PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition, a method and a kit for regulating expression of a target gene which is particularly a tissue metalloproteinase inhibitor 1 and a tissue metalloproteinase inhibitor 2 (TIMP1 and TIMP2 respectively).SOLUTION: A composition, a method and a kit contain a nucleic acid molecule (e.g., short-stranded interfering nucleic acid (siNA), short-stranded interfering RNA (siRNA), double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), micro RNA (miRNA) or short-stranded hairpin RNA (shRNA)) that regulates a gene that codes TIMP1 and TIMP2 which is a gene that codes human TIMP1 and TIMP2, for example. The composition and the method can be also used for treating a disease state and a disorder related to TIMP1 and TIMP2 including a fibrotic disease and disorder which include hepatic fibrosis, pulmonary fibrosis, peritoneal fibrosis and renal fibrosis.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
