<p>The windscreen (10) is fitted on the body (12) by a rubber joint (11). It consists of composite glass and has two panels (13), (14) assembled together by an adhesive sheet (15). This is between 10 and 20 microns thick with several gaps and an empty space. A liquid crystal element is formed by two coatings of stannic dioxide (16), (17) with the space between them filled with a liquid crystal bustance (18). Wires (19), (20) connect to a plug (21) or the ends (22), (23) of a variable resistance. The necessary signals in colour, if needed, are relayed from the instrument concerned. The liquid crystal substance contains dichroic colourants if coloured signals are required.</p> |
