1514374 Making sliding clasp fasteners TURO STENHALL OY 5 March 1976 [5 March 1975] 9024/76 Heading B5A A row of closure members for a sliding clasp fastener is made by feeding a plastics filament F to the toothed periphery 15, 15a of a setting gear 14. A striker 20 is reciprocable axially of the gear and presses the filament into a V- shaped configuration 10c, 10d against a recess 27 in a stop plate 16, this operation forming a locking tappet 12 at the apex of the V. The striker is withdrawn and the V is pushed by a radially movable pusher 21a (or 21b) into a gap between the teeth of the setting gear. The gear is then indexed forward one increment to cause a length of filament 10e to be drawn over the tooth whereupon operation of the striker and pusher is repeated to form another section of the row interconnected to the first. The striket is carried by an arm 22 fixed to a driving shaft 24. The shaft also carries a second arm 23 the free end of which is received in a recess 29 of a body 28 carried by the pusher 21. Thus the movement of the striker and the pusher is synchronised. In the preferred embodiment two rows are simultaneously made by a pair of gears strikers and pushers between which a single stop is located. |
