The motor uses a continuous chain with spherical or cylindrical masses equally spaced along its length. The chain runs over two sprockets, one vertically above the other, and also meshes with grooves cut on the inside of an annular ring whose centre lies midway between the tow sprockets centres. The chain is positioned so that the masses mesh with the annular ring on the outgoing side, but passes directly between the edges of the sprockets on the return side, thus no longer meshing with the annular ring. The centre of gravity of the ring/chain combination is then off the centre of the ring, causing rotation of the ring. This rotational energy may then be applied to do e.g. production of electricity.
