In order to control the heating power, especially of control resistors for temperature switches for switching a storage heater on and off as a function of predetermined temperatures, the desired value and the actual value are supplied via thermal couplers to a device for forming the control deviation, whose output signal is applied to a solid-state switch which is at mains voltage, in series with the control resistor. The device for forming the control deviation, which is preferably constructed as an integrated circuit, contains mains-voltage compensation and a limiter for the switched-on duration, the power switch, a triac or a thyristor being driven via a static zero-voltage switch. <IMAGE>
