PURPOSE:To reasonably recover bills not dischargeable and bills left unpicked by providing a recovery box formed with a bill insertion port and a flapper distributing bills to a chamber and the other chamber based on the type of recovery bills. CONSTITUTION:When broken bills are judged as not dischargeable, the feed roller 15 of a recovery box 10 is rotated, and the recovery bills conveyed to a bill insertion port 14 are guided by a flapper 28 and are recovered in the first chamber 26. In addition, when it is judged that a customer has left bills unpicked, a solenoid 31 is energized, the flapper 28 is moved upward, the second chamber 27 is opened, the feed roller 15 is driven in the recovery direction, and the recovery bills conveyed to the bill insertion port 14 are guided by the flapper 28 and recovered in the second chamber 27. Accordingly, bills not dischargeable and bills left unpicked are recovered in separate chambers in one recovery box, thus individual recovery bills can be verified at high reliability.
