PURPOSE: To provide a plastic film and the producing method, which is excellent in optical properties, barrier property against oxygen, nitrogen, water or the like and useful for liquid crystal display panel electrode substrate or the like. CONSTITUTION: This plastic film is negative in double refractive index (Δn), <=50nm in retardation (R) and >=-30 to <=+30 in the angle (θ) of molecular orientation axis. Where, the double refractive index (Δn) of the film is a value obtained by subtracting nTD from nMD, the retardation (R) is absolute value obtained by multiplying (Δn) by (d), the angle (B) of molecular orientation axis is the angle of refractive index main axis of the film to film width direction, nMD is refractive index in the longitudinal direction of the film, nTD is refractive index in the width direction intersecting the longitudinal direction of the film at right angle and (d) is the thickness (nm) of the film. |
