PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device having uniform wavelength dispersion of display light which is capable of performing an achromatic white display, which has a high scattering effect, and therefore, which condenses the incident light as much as possible to the observer's position to be able to perform a bright color display. SOLUTION: This display device consists of at least a substrate on the observer's side having a transparent electrode 5 on a transparent substrate 9, a back side substrate having a light-reflecting film 2, a light-scattering film 8 and a transparent electrode 6 facing the first transparent electrode, and liquid crystal held between the substrates 1, 9. The light-scattering film 8 consists of microlenses 3 disposed in a nonpixel part and a pixel part region, and a flattening layer 4 of a transparent resin having different refractive index from that of the microlenses 3 and covering the microlenses. The extinction coefft. of the microlenses 3 at 430 nm wavelength is specified to <=1.5×10-3. |
