The filtering material may be fabricated by deposition of an adhesive in a predetermined pattern onto a surface of filter paper and bringing fibres into contact with the adhesive such that they project therefrom Reference is made to the deposition of rayon fibres about 1 mm. long and 0.3-0.4 mm. diameter onto sheet filter paper, which may thereafter be cut and pleated to provide air filters suitable for use in I.C. engines.
