The wire testing equipment contains a test signal generator which can be connected to one end of a test and comparison wire and a test termination impedance between the remote end of a return wire and the test or comparison wire. The terminating impedance is also switched synchronously from the comparison wire to the test wire. The voltage meter measures the loop voltage via the impedance, comparison wire and return wire. The ratio of the voltages across the comparison and test wires is determined from the loop voltages and used as the criterion for identifying the test wire. USE/ADVANTAGE - Testing wires in communications cables, e.g. ISDN network, DATEX, telecommunications. Convenient to use, universally applicable, and gives reliable results.
