PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the corrosion resistance of a gear part of a fishing reel. SOLUTION: Each of a main gear, a pinion gear and a gear constituting the gear mechanism of a fishing reel has a main body 70 made of a free-cutting metal and a highly corrosion-resistant coating film 71 made of a highly corrosion-resistant material and formed on the main body 70. The main body 70 is made of e.g. a free-cutting stainless steel alloy selected from SUS303, SUS430F and SUS416. The highly corrosion-resistant coating film 71 is a chromium oxide-based film containing chromium oxide. The highly corrosion- resistant coating film 71 has a film thickness A of≥0.02μm.
