<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deterioration of visibility and improve the performance of a planar light emitting body by controlling the leaking direction of leakage light from a surface of a light guide plate. <P>SOLUTION: The plate surface of the light guide plate 12 is provided with surface sections 12b-1 facing obliquely upward, and surface sections 12b-2 facing obliquely downward. Since the surface sections 12b-1, 12b-2, respectively, form the leakage light 12B-1, 12B-2 the azimuth components of which on the plate surface of the light guide plate 12 deviate from the main viewing direction F; the azimuth distribution of the leakage light 12B varies from that of conventional structures, and the peak azimuths of the leakage light are formed on both sides of the viewing direction F, respectively, and also both the peak strengths remarkably decrease. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
