Appts. is connected by hitch (3) to a tractor. Plastic sheet unrolls from drum (5) and is laid on the ground, guided by roller (17) over a support plate (15) against which a cutter, driven from wheels (2) strikes to perforate the sheet at intervals. Furrows (9) are formed by two spaced disc blades (8). The edges of the plastic sheet are tucked into the furrows by wheels (10). The sheet is laid over furrows made by blades (12). An operator seated on the machine inserts plants into the furrows through the perforations in the sheet. The furrows are then closed by blades (13). Blades (11) close furrows (9) over the edges of the plastic sheet.
