PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the erroneous insertion of a recording medium. SOLUTION: An MD reproducing device 1 includes a raising/lowering device 3, a magazine 4, a reproducing device 5, a control device, an operation panel and a memory. An MD inserted from an inlet/outlet 12 is housed in the magazine 4 or loaded in the reproducing device 5 by the raising/lowering device 3. During the reproduction of the MD by the reproducing device 5, the insertion/ ejection of the other MD is permitted. When the maximum number (4) of MDs are housed in the magazine 4, the housing part 16 of the raising/lowering member 13 of the raising/lowering device 3 is arranged in a position other than an inserting/ejecting position facing the inlet/outlet 12, and the inlet/outlet 12 is closed by a shutter 220 in linkage with the raising/lowering member 13.
