Thermal cut=out switch for electric motor - monitors stator winding temp. and fits into opening in laminations packet

The cut-out switch (4) is fitted into an opening (5) in the stator laminated packet (2) located in a region with a low magnetic flux density. The opening (5) is either in the form of a radial pocket, or in the form of a groove in the outer face of the packet (2). The cut-out switch (4) may be held in place by the impregnation material of the stator winding (1) for forming a good heat-conductive connection between the latter and the cut-out switch (4). The provision of an opening in the lamination packet for the cut-out switch simplifies mfr. of the motor, orevents damage to the windings and ensures that it remains in a fixed position relative to the stator winding.
