<p>PURPOSE:To control the thickness of a liquid crystal oriented film by forming the liquid crystal oriented film by a printing method then irradiating UV rays on the liquid crystal oriented film. CONSTITUTION:A thin SiO2 film 3 having 500-1,000Angstrom thickness and a prescribed electrode 4 are successively formed on a front substrate 1 and a rear substrate 2. The liquid crystal oriented film 5 consisting of a polyimide resin is formed on the film 3 and the electrode 4. The UV rays contg. 1,849Angstrom and 2,537Angstrom wavelength are irradiated on the liquid crystal oriented film. The oxygen in air absorbs the light energy of 1,849Angstrom wavelength and generates ozone which bonds with the carbon and hydrogen in the surface layer of the film 5 to change chemically and evaporate the surface layer of the film 5. The ozone generate oxygen excitation atoms having high activation when the light energy of 2,537Angstrom is further irradiated to the ozone, by which the stronger oxidation effect is provided to the ozone. The surface layer of the film 5 is thereby removed and the liquid crystal oriented film has the thickness from 300 to 400Angstrom .</p> |
