<p>A composite channel-shaped trim strip (10) for application to a flange (17) such as around the doors and windows of automotive vehicles, and a method for fabricating the trim strip (10). A perforated stiffener (11) is incorporated in the trim strip to impart shape retention while facilitating bending and distortion thereof to the desired configuration. A rigid barrier member (25) is interposed between the perforated stiffener (11) and the corresponding external surface of the trim strip (10) as the trim strip (10) is fabricated to prevent carryover of the perforate pattern of the stiffener (11) to the external surface. An aesthetically pleasing pattern may then be embossed upon the surface.</p> |
