<p>OPF-U-8 having the activity of promoting osteclast differentiation and proteins similar thereto; peptide fragments of these proteins; the antibodies thereof; drugs containing as the active ingredient these proteins; genes encoding these proteins; expression vectors of these genes; transformants having these expression vectors transferred thereinto; a process for producing recombinant proteins with the use of these transformants; transgenic animals relating to the transfer or defect of these genes; and use of the above proteins in screening osteclast differentiation promoting activity inhibitors. Because of having the activity of promoting osteoclast differentiation, the above novel protein OPF-U-8 is usable as an osteoclast differentiation promoter. Further, OPF-U-8 is useful as a material in screening osteoclast differentiation promoting activity inhibitors. The osteoclast differentiation promoting activity inhibitors thus screened are also usable as drugs.</p> |
