PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alternating-current motor wherein the torque produced by the motor can be increased without increasing the length of the motor. SOLUTION: The alternating-current motor has a stator core 11 formed by laminating a large number of thin electromagnetic steel plates. Auxiliary cores 60 formed by laminating electromagnetic steel plates are added to the tips of the teeth 13 of the stator core 11. And/or, auxiliary cores 61 similarly formed by laminating electromagnetic steel plates are added to the peripheral portion 15 of the stator core. Then, the length of a rotor is increased by an amount equivalent to the added auxiliary cores 11. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
