摘要 PURPOSE:To enable an engine stalling to be prevented even if the trouble or the response retarding of a lift variable control system is generated in a deceler ating operation time, by changing the target range of an engine revolution speed for the stoppage of fuel supply when the difference between real and target lift characteristics is generated. CONSTITUTION:An actuator 26 controls variably the lift characteristic of an inlet and exhaust valve corresponding to a target lift characteristic which is set up by a control circuit 27 corresponding to the operation condition of an engine. And the control circuit 27 judges whether a real lift characteristic detected by a potentiometer 40 is the target lift characteristic or not. Here, when the real lift characteristic is the target lift characteristic, the fuel supply cut of a decelerating operation time is carried out at the target range of an engine rotation speed or more, on the other hand when the real lift characteris tic is other than the target lift characteristic, the fuel supply cut is carried out at not less than the range of the engine rotation speed which is changed higher by a prescribed rotation speed than the target rotation speed of the engine. Thus, even if a trouble is generated in a lift variable control system, the engine stalling of a fuel supply restarting time and the like can be prevented.
