1450097 Humidifiers RESPIRATORY CARE INC 6 Sept 1973 41995/73 Heading A5T A humidifier comprises a container having a cover 29 provided with an inlet 34 and an outlet 32 for a gas. a heater 56 mounted under the container and including heating elements and a temperature sensor, a gas dispersion plate 52 mounted in the container nearer its bottom than its top to define a chamber 55, and a tube 50 integral with the plate 52 for conveying gas from the inlet 34 to the chamber 55. A tube 36 defining the inlet 34 telescopes within the tube 50 and includes a oneway flap valve 43. The heater housing is packed with insulation 59 which is anchored by buttons 60, and is frictionally received under the wall 44 defining the container. In an alternative embodiment a container (106), Fig. 8, (not shown) has cooling fins (126) and a water reservoir (114) with tubes (108, 110) for maintaining the water level in the container (106) constant. In another embodiment a container (112), Fig. 9, (not shown) has cooling fins (116a) and a pressure relief valve (138). An inlet tube (166), Fig. 10, (not shown) is integrally formed with a dispersion plate (172) which has a plurality of 3/64 inch diameter holes in concentric and radial lines, and strengthening ribs (174). The plate (174) supports water which is separated from the water in the chamber (188) below the plate (172) by an air gap (194). The components of the humidifiers may be made from a thermoplastics material which is stable up to at least 100F. |
