PURPOSE:To perform picture processing suitable for binary-coding of various pictures through setting the best threshold level, by calculating the reference deviation and average value of density levels within constant picture-element areas in every said area by comparing the both. CONSTITUTION:Picture-element information in every one scanning line of an inputted picture signal BS is read in an arithmetic processing part 1 to calculate its average density level mu and reference deviation O. The binary-coding process according logical decisions which correspond to those calculation results is executed for an inputted picture signal DBS sent successively via a one-line shift register 2, in a binary-coding processing part 3. While the processing part 3 binary-codes the one-line picture signal stored in the register 2 temporarily and collectively, a picture signal of the next line is sent to an arithmetic processing part 1 to calculate the density level mu and reference deviation O of the line, thereby achieving real-time processing. |
