Method and arrangement for the straight rolling up of roofing paper and similar web-like material in large lengths and widths. The web is maintained in the prestressed state essentially during the entire rolling-up operation, and the end parts of the centre tube, around which the web is rolled up, are controlled by guide elements in such a way that the said end parts move as a pair in straight vertical paths, the vertical movement taking place in two vertical planes at right angles to the horizontal rolls. Preferably, the said end parts are guided by means of mechanical guides. The driving rollers for the core formation are mounted in a carriage which transfers the core roll from a core-forming position to the position for the final rolling-up phase, the web tension being maintained essentially during the entire transfer operation. |
