<p>This invention is a handpiece assembly for an oral irrigator having a pressure control valve assembly, a stop valve (100), and a housing (30). The pressure control valve assembly has a valve body having an intermediate section (112) having a substantially cylindrical bore (126) therethrough. A valve gate having a cylindrical portion (150) with an orifice (106) bored therethrough has a control arm (110) coupled to a guide portion (108) for rotation within the valve body. A slide control (26) is positioned on the housing, and is coupled to the guide portion (108) of the valve gate, so that as the slide control (26) moves linearly along the portion of the housing, the cylindrical portion of the valve gate correspondingly rotates within the bore of the valve body to adjust the pressure or flow rate of the fluid passing through the pressure control valve assembly.</p> |
