An earphone audio device includes a housing, a speaker component, and a step-styled tip wherein the tip comprises a mid-section and a leading-section, the leading section having a smaller radial profile than the mid-section, and the speaker component is at least partially disposed within the aperture formed by the interior wall of the mid-section. In some embodiments, the speaker component may be entirely disposed within the mid-section such that no part of the speaker component extends toward the housing of the earphone beyond the aperture formed by the mid-section.

a speaker component; a housing; a tip coupled to the housing, the tip comprising:
a leading-section having a first aperture at least partially formed by an interior wall of the leading-section; anda mid-section having a second aperture at least partially formed by an interior wall of the of the mid-section; wherein an outer profile of the leading section of the tip is smaller than the outer profile of the mid-section of the tip it at least one dimension; wherein the speaker component is at least partially disposed within the second aperture; and wherein an outer profile of the speaker component is larger than an inner profile of the first aperture in at least one dimension.
