PURPOSE:To improve operability of power generation and electric driving of a retarder also used for starting an engine. CONSTITUTION:Two kinds of armature coils 45a, 45b are wound in the different number of winding inside a retarder 2. A changeover circuit 5 changes over contact points G on a side of the coil 45a of the larger number of winding during power generating operation in braking and contact points M on a side of the coil 45b of the smaller number of winding during electrically driving operation in starting an engine, thus operating the retarder 2. |
