PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester resin which has both of high transparency and excellent thermal stability and further has excellent film molding processability, and to provide a production method of the polyester resin.SOLUTION: The polyester resin contains iodine of 0.01-15 mol/t, an alkali metal of 0.1-20 mol/t and an alkaline-earth metal or manganese of 0.1-20 mol/t in terms of the number of atoms. The production method of the polyester resin comprises the steps of: performing an esterification reaction or an ester exchange reaction between a dicarboxylic acid or a dicarboxylic acid ester and diol to obtain a monomer; and performing polycondensation reaction of the monomer by using an antimony compound as a catalyst and further comprises the steps of: adding a chemical substance containing iodine, an alkali metal, an alkaline-earth metal or manganese, and phosphorus; adding iodine; and then adding an antimony catalyst.SELECTED DRAWING: None |
