摘要 An active-imaging system useful for biometric facial recognition has an optical head with a short-wave infrared (SWIR) imager, an illuminator, and a processor. The imager and illuminator are aligned and mounted on a single pan-tilt stage. The illuminator produces a wavelength of light greater than 1400 nm and less than 1700 nm, which is centered on the imager field of view. An electronics box having power supplies, communications electronics, and a light source for the illuminator can be included. The electronics box is connected to the optical head by an umbilical having cables to deliver light and power to support data communication to and from the optical head. The processor is connected to the electronics box for comparing SWIR-illuminated facial images captured by the imager to a database of visible-spectrum face images.
