PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide input/output interceptor logic that improves data storage performance by reducing the overhead generated by individual write inputs/outputs.SOLUTION: An input/output interface intercepts a plurality of write inputs/outputs and a plurality of flush requests from an application. A temporary write holding buffer stores the write inputs/outputs provided by the input/output interface. A re-order logic section changes the order of the write inputs/outputs stored in the temporary write holding buffer, and combines the write inputs/outputs into a combined write input/output. A flush control logic section communicates input/output completion to the application before the write inputs/outputs are stored in a storage device, and causes the combined write input/output to be stored in the storage device in response to at least one of a flush request selected from the flush requests, a threshold of data accumulated, and an expiration of a preset time period.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
