In the present invention, there is disclosed an air bag system, in which an air bag (10), which is stored in a folded state in a vehicle and is determined to protect the passengers, is adapted to be inflated by a gas supplied from an inflator (22) through a diffuser (21). The diffuser (21) is provided in generally central part of the airbag (10) from its longitudinal point of view, where the diffuser (21) is placed on one side of the inflator (22) such that the diffuser and the inflator are substantially aligned with each other, and the diffuser (21) is closed at one end. The airbag (10) comprises an inflatable portion (11c) for the front seat and inflatable portion (11d) for the rear seat, which both are provided in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle. Each of said inflatable portions (11c, 11d) is connected by a gas passage (11b). The diffuser (21) includes a feeding gas part, connected to a gas inlet provided in generally central part of the airbag (10) supplying the gas to the gas passage (11b), whereas the diffuser (21) length in the longitudinal direction is less than the length of the gas passage (11b). |
