PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a rubbery polymer capable of producing the rubbery polymer in a high yield, the rubbery polymer being excellent in stability during a polymerization process and having a small amount of metal content. SOLUTION: This method for producing the rubbery polymer comprises performing an emulsion polymerization using as an emulsifier, a surfactant represented by general formula (1), wherein R represents an aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 8 to 12 carbon atoms and n represents an ethylene oxide average condensation number of 5 to 20, and having an HLB value of 13.5 to 17.0 and a clouding point for a 1.0 mass% water solution thereof of 70°C or higher, and heating the obtained copolymer latex in the presence of an electrolyte.
