An electrical plug or socket (1) includes a safety arrangement wherein an RFID sensor (6) is provided for sensing an RFID tag (21) within a response distance (d). A responder is also provided in the plug or socket which is in communication with the sensor. In use, when the RFID sensor senses an RFID tag within a response distance (e.g. of between 0.1 cm to 3m) of the electrical plug or socket, the RFID sensor communicates with the responder to provide a response by the electrical plug or socket. The response may constitute shutting off electrical supply or the sounding of an alarm. The RFID tag may be attached to, or worn by, a user. |
