PURPOSE: A feature map formation apparatus and a method thereof using the apparatus for extracting the feature information of the object in order to reduce the operation quantity are provided to detect distance information, plane patch information and reflection function as feature information. CONSTITUTION: A sensor unit(301) acquires the distance information about scatter information. A corner detecting unit(302) detects the corner information about object by using the mission information. A plane detecting unit(303) detects the plane patch information by using the distance information of the corresponding special counter around and corner information. A reflective function detecting unit(304) detects the reflection function of the plane patch by using the mission information according to the angle of the light.
