PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nitrogen oxide sensor element improved in detection accuracy of NOx concentration.SOLUTION: A nitrogen oxide sensor element 15 comprises: a solid electrolyte layer 11 made of zirconia (ZrO; a detection electrode layer 13a made of zinc chromite (ZrCrO) and stacked on the solid electrolyte layer 11; and an electrode 14 made of metal and stacked on the detection electrode layer 13a. The detection electrode layer 13a has a porous structure and includes zirconia particles dispersed therein. This structure enables the zinc chromite and the zirconia to react with a detection target gas not only in an interface between the solid electrolyte layer 11 and the detection electrode layer 13a, but also in the detection electrode layer 13a. |
