<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a target distinguishing system that can perform target distinction, such as accurately pursuing the track of movement of a target, which may be a person for instance, even though its configuration is simple. <P>SOLUTION: A spatial virtual array SVA is configured by transmitting mutually orthogonal signals from element antennas of a transmission antenna TA, receiving the returning signals reflected by a target and separating the mutually orthogonal signals with a matched filter. A temporal virtual array TVA is configured by compensating signals obtained at different points of time for phase shifts accompanying the shifts of the target and thereby obtaining signals of the element antennas virtually shifted in position.
