<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of efficiently and inexpensively manufacturing a high-quality optical element by which the occurrence of conventional failure such as unevenness and void can be prevented. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the optical element 10, which has partition walls 25 and a plurality of pixels 15 partitioned by the partition walls, comprises: a process of forming a photosensitive resin composition layer 18 having light-shielding property on a substrate 22; a process of forming the partition walls having a cross-sectional shape which has a bottom surface 25a, an upper surface 25b and both side surfaces 25c by performing pattern exposure of the photosensitive resin composition layer and developing the photosensitive resin composition layer; a process of curing both side surfaces of the partition walls; a process of hardening the partition walls by heating the same; and a process of forming pixels 15 by applying ink onto a region surrounded by hardened partition walls.
