<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag capable of increasing the development width of a desired part by increasing the thickness of the part. <P>SOLUTION: The airbag 16 is formed in a bag shape by overlapping a first panel 22 and a second panel 23 in a plane, and sealing peripheral edge parts thereof with an outer peripheral seam 26. Inside the airbag 16, a base end of a tether 25 is joined with an upper end of the outer peripheral seam 26, and a tip of the tether 25 is joined with a thickness regulation part 17. In the airbag 16 in an inflated and developed condition, a development surface 28a extending in the transverse direction of a vehicle is formed by stretching the tether 25 inside the airbag. A shoulder restraint part 27b is formed on the airbag 16 for a thickness increasing area to promote inflation in the transverse direction of the vehicle for the part that the development surface 28a is formed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
